Special Screenings with the directors of the winning films 9 -13 May
Traditionally in May, the Philosophical Film Festival organizes two Special projections of the winning feature films inviting the directors of the films in Skopje.
A rare occasion to meet the winners of the “Golden Owl” award for best feature film on the 8. Philosophical Film Festival – Jury Awars for Best Feature Film on PFF 2018 & Audience Award for Best Feature Film on PFF 2018. On Wednesday (9 May) we will have the chance to meet the Hungarian director Roland Vranik, while on Sunday (13 May) in Skopje will arrive the Romanian director Tedy Necula and his team. The projections are free and both will take place in the Cinematheque of Macedonia. After the projections there will be a Q&A with the audience.
The Philosophical Film Festival is organized by the Philosophical Society of Macedonia. The Special Projections are realized with the support of the Macedonian Film Agency.

Wilson is an African living in Budapest. He has arrived as a political refugee and wants to become a Hungarian citizen, but keeps failing the exams required for the application. The Citizen raises questions about the status of an individual – both as a citizen of a country (home or abroad) or as a citizen of the world. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚’𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅? This is the subtly raised question in this movie, at a time when, on one hand, equality, liberty and citizenship are becoming universal, but on the other, there are multiple obstacles on the road to be(come) a citizen. THE CITIZEN by Hungarian director Roland Vranik has won the Best Screenplay Award of the Fantasporto Film Festival in Porto, Portugal.
ROLAND VRANIK after graduation, has worked on several shorts and feature films as production manager and director’s assistant and as a member of the Positive Production Workshop. In 2000 he received a grant from the Balázs Béla Stúdió and wrote and directed the experimental short film ‘Dominator 2000’ (2001). The same year he was director’s assistant of ‘Werckmeister’s Harmonies’ directed by Béla Tarr. His debut feature ‘Black Brush’ (Fekete kefe, 2005) has won a few awards, and ‘Transmission’ (Adás, 2009) showcased at more than 20 renowned film festivals worldwide.

Audience Award for Best Feature Film on PFF 2018
The Bucharest subway is blocked in the morning hours the day after a horrible fire accident in one of the night clubs of the capital, with a large number of young people killed and injured. This inspirational film by the young Romanian director Tedy Necula, which can also be seen as a sort of social experiment, is an allegorical story about the world itself and the relations governing it. Commuting people start talking to each other. What happens when time, by magic or accident, stops for a moment… or half an hour? When the other becomes me, and I become the other, when the time “lost” can become time “gained” (friend, experience, conversation). At the end of the road, after the journey, someone gets changed.
TEDY NECULA directs and produces of inspirational films. He has created over 40 inspirational and documentary films targeting commercial and social projects and causes in Europe. Necula then had the chance to be in contact with people from vulnerable groups such as orphans, people with disabilities, LGBT or prison women, AIDS and communities at risk. Its kind of philosophy makes it look for inspiration in the narrative of any subject or brand, even in places where others find only dramas.
